VOLUNTEER WITH HOBY VT
As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on our dedicated and OUTSTANDING volunteer staff and are always looking for additions to our HOBY family. There are several ways to get involved with HOBY Vermont depending on your age and the amount of time you can volunteer!
CORPORATE BOARD
HOBY Vermont is seeking Vermont-based volunteers to join our Corporate Board. This is a unique opportunity to engage directly with local Vermont communities and invest in our state's future through its promising young leaders. As a board member, you'll help guide our strategic direction, ensure financial sustainability, and expand our impact.
While we have particular needs in financial governance, public relations/social media, and grant writing, we welcome all passionate individuals - no previous board experience required! We value diverse perspectives and are open to anyone interested in high school leadership development and education. Responsibilities include monthly Zoom meetings and committee service.
Join us in inspiring Vermont's next generation of leaders! To learn more or express interest, email our president: Kelsey Jensen (kjensen@hobyvt.org).
JUNIOR FACILITATORS
Our Junior Facilitators (JuFa’s) - Work collaboratively with an adult facilitator to guide a group of 7-10 Ambassadors through the HOBY experience. JuFa’s bring the energy and enthusiasm to the seminar through leading cheers, alongside maintaining open and positive atmospheres in the small groups – ultimately helping the youth participants to develop leadership, self-confidence, and growth throughout the weekend.
SEMINAR STAFF
The seminar staff is made up of a group of volunteers, many of whom are HOBY VT alumni who are responsible for delivering a high energy, impactful seminar. Roles include leading (or helping to lead) a group of Ambassadors or helping with various operations during the weekend. Please email for more information.
SEMINAR PLANNING COMMITTEE
The HOBY Vermont Seminar Planning Committee (SPC) is the heart of the organization. It is made up of dedicated, motivated volunteers that plan and produce the HOBY Vermont seminar. The SPC reviews the seminar program from previous years and works together on ways to improve the HOBY experience for ambassadors. This includes, but is not limited to: picking speakers that align with HOBY Vermont's values, planning activities that will correspond to the HOBY curriculum, create a theme for the seminar, and help prepare the materials needed for the event. Members of the SPC attend monthly 1-hour meetings via online video conferencing technology. Individuals interested in being a member of the SPC or who would like additional information can reach out to the Director of Programming.
